Kotoko play down interest in Kenichi Yatsuhashi

Asante Kotoko General Manager Opoku Nti has played down his side’s interest in signing former Hearts of Oak trainer Kenichi Yatsuhashi.

The Japanese-American tactician mutually ended his time at the club last Monday and he has swiftly been linked with former Premier League champions

Despite Kotoko not having substantive head coach, the Kumasi giants have rubbished any possible move of signing Yatsuhashi.

“It’s not true that Kotoko is looking for Kenichi. In fact, Kotoko have not even thought of signing a white coach, let alone Kenichi,” Nti told the Graphic Sports.

“We’re going ahead with Michael Osei and he has a good backroom staff such as Godwin Ablordey, Prince Adu-Poku, Joe Baah and others who are assisting him.

“If Hearts have got an issue with their coach, why should Kotoko be linked to it? When we had our issue with Duncan, nobody mentioned Hearts, so people should leave Kotoko out of the Hearts-Kenichi issue.”
