Head coach of Asante Kotoko, David Duncan has stated that the Kumasi based club would have to augment its squad next season before challenging for the league title after they got dethroned by Ashgold.
Asante Kotoko started the 2014/15 league season with the hope of winning their fourth consecutive premier league title but they struggled in their first five league games leading to the sacking of then their coach Didi Dramani.
After Dramani’s departure the mantle was given to David Duncan, the former Hearts of Oak trainer was not consistent in getting the results for Kotoko, however getting to the end of the league, Duncan and his charges came in strongly and ended the season on a high note beating Aduana Stars 4-0 in their last league game at Kumasi.
Due to how David Duncan struggled in getting the results for the Kumasi based club, the 53 year old tactician has pointed out that he will need to augment his squad next season in order to challenge for the league title.
“The team need back up next season in order to challenge for the league title, in the season we played certain matches without some key players because they had left the club so in order to challenge for the league trophy we must get onboard certain players and also prepare well to achieve that target,” Duncan told Happy fm.
Kotoko finished 7 with 42 points at the end of the 2014/15 league season.
