Asante Kotoko midfielder Jackson Owusu has been ruled out of the 2016 Ghana Premier League season after picking up a grave shin injury on Sunday.
The 26-year-old was playing with his friends after breaking from camp yesterday and collided with an opponent. He was quickly rushed to the Okomfo Anokye Hospital.
“Jackson Owusu will not be part of Kotoko’s scheme of things when the 2015-16 Premier League commences on February 20, 2016,” a club statement read.
“The player suffered a grave shin injury early Sunday morning,” it added.
Kotoko chief executive officer Opoku Nti has revealed that Owusu will undergo surgery on Monday at the Okomfo Anokye Hospital and is expected to be out until November.
“He’s expected to undergo a surgery on Monday” Nti said. “That’s the report the doctors are giving to us after examinations at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital. He will be out for close to eight months.”
Owusu joined Kotoko from Berekum Chelsea last season on a three-year deal in an undisclosed fee.
