The management of Kotoko has sent a goodwill message to arch rivals Accra Hearts of Oak ahead of their preliminary round, Confederation Cup match against AS Police of Benin at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
The club’s General Manager, Opoku Nti in an interview with the club’s website said it was necessary to wish the Phobians well as their African campaign gets underway.
He stressed that, much as the rivalry between Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak remained unchanged, Hearts of Oak’s success in Africa would ultimately be Ghana’s success.
“This is Ghana football we are talking about. We are not talking about the Kotoko-Hearts rivalry. We talking about a continental campaign. If they do well, the benefit will be to our football. For that reason, we wish them well. It is our wish that they win and subsequently eliminate AS Police to progress” said Opoku Nti.
Newly confirmed Communications Manager of the club, Kwaku Ahenkorah also added his voice to the goodwill message. “We are with Hearts of Oak. It is our prayer that they excel. We pray that their expectations will be met as they start their Africa campaign” said Ahenkorah.
