David Duncan has been told to step aside until further notice by Asante Kotoko after a meeting with the club’s hierarchy on Sunday.
The 46-year-old, who guided the Porcupine Warriors to a second place finish last season, ends his stint at Baba Yara Stadium with a 1-0 defeat to Aduana Stars on Sunday.
Kotoko are now languishing in 16th place, having registered just five points from six games.
A statement from the Kumasi-based side read: “Management has asked coach David Duncan to step aside until further notice and with immediate effect.
“The decision has become necessary after the club’s abysmal performance in the ongoing Ghana Premier League where Kotoko lie an unprecedented last position on the league table with five points.
“Assistant coach Michael Osei takes over as head of the technical team in the interim. Management further apologises to the teeming fans of the club for the performance displayed so far.
“We will endeavour to turn the tables and send the club where it duly belongs,” the statement added.
Osei begins his interim role with a home game against Liberty Professionals next weekend.
