Ghana midfielder Nana Akwasi Asare has signed a two-year contract extension with Belgian champions KAA Gent that will see him at the club until 2019.
Asare, 29, joined Gent in 2013 from Dutch Eredivise side FC Utrecht and has gone through the ranks to become the club’s deputy captain.
“Nana Akwasi Asare has just extended his contract until 2019,” a club statement said.
“The Ghanaian winger, who can both play as left back and left midfielder or central midfielder, came in 2013 and has since become a certainty in the starting line-up. Nana signed in 2013 a four-year contract and it has now being opened up and extended until 2019. Congratulations Nana!” the statement added.
Asare has played 28 games in all competitions for Gent this season and has been capped five times for Ghana.
He was part of the Black Stars squad that finished third in the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations.
