Former Executive Board Chairman of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Dr. Desmond Kofi Kodua Sarpong has called on the leadership of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), to consider handing Stephen Appiah a managerial role in any of the national teams.
He said Appiah has demonstrated qualities of a good leader and could be a good manager, hence the need to offer a managerial role to transfer knowledge to others.
According to the chairman of the Global Group of Companies, Appiah’s humility and leadership qualities earned Ghana the first ever FIFA World Cup qualification hence the player must be tasked to impact his leadership qualities on the upcoming generation.
He made the call when the former Juventus midfielder extended a formal invitation to him at his office to attend his testimonial dinner and football match as he draws the curtain over his illustrious football career.
“I advise GFA to consider handing Appiah a managerial role in any of the national teams,” Dr. Sarpong pointed out.
“He is a very good leader who the country should still benefit from. We must not let him go idle,” the former Kotoko boss explained.
