Julia Agawu wins bronze at AAG with 49.08m throw

National discus record holder Julia Agawu won Ghana’s 13 medal at the All Africa Games after claiming bronze with a throw of 49.08m in the discus throw at the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo-Brazzaville on Wednesday evening.

Julia, who holds the current national record of 50.40m, opened her campaign with a 46.68m toss before improving to 49.08m on her second attempt.

She fouled on her third and fourth attempts and subsequently threw 43.84 and 45.33m to end her campaign.

Nigeria’s Claire UKE claimed gold with 54.25m followed in second by South Africa’s Ischke Senekal with 50.53m.

This is Julia’s first international medal in national colours after placing 4 on her debut in national colours at the 2014 CAA African Championships.
