Aston Villa manager, Tim Sherwood has been saying some nice words about Ghana forward, Jordan in his pre-match press conference Friday morning ahead of their Premier League fixture at Liverpool on Saturday.
Ayew came off the bench to power Villa to a 1-0 win in the Birmingham derby on Tuesday night and progress to the last 16 of the Capital One Cup and has impressed his coach as a result.
“Jordan Ayew did well the other night. He will grow and get better and we were very impressed with him,” Tim Sherwood answered enquiries at his press conference earlier this morning.
“The new players came here because we knew they were good players. Some hit the ground running right away, others take time,” the Aston Villa boss added.
Villa have struggled for form in the Premier League, amassing a paltry six points from the opening six games and are winless since nicking a 1-0 victory at new boys, Bournemouth on the opening weekend but Tim Sherwood is confident his side can revive their campaign at also struggling Liverpool.
“The new lads are excited about the prospect of playing at Anfield. They’ve seen so many great players come from there. I still enjoy going there. I always did as a player and now as a manager. When we cross that white line, we’ll be focussed,” he said.
“Anytime is good to play Liverpool. It’s always good to go to Anfield. They haven’t got as many points as they would’ve liked. Neither have we. It’s not a good time to play us either,” Tim Sherwood continued.
The Aston Villa manager added: “Points-tally wise it’s been a difficult start, we would’ve loved to have more points. We’re a work in progress with a new squad.
