Everton forward Oumar Niasse claims Jose Mourinho was interested in signing him forChelsea.
The 25-year-old was signed by Roberto Martinez in a £13.5 million deal from Lokomotiv Moscow in February but has made only three substitute appearances due to a wrist injury.
Niasse was named Russian Premier League player of the year for 2015 following his performances for Lokomotiv Moscow last season, and the Senegal international claims he has been a long-term target of Mourinho’s.
“My manager told me Mourinho was interested,” Niasse told The Guardian.
“He said Mourinho liked the way I play and had been looking at me since I was in Turkey [with Akhisar Belediyespor].
“He was very interested in me for this last transfer window but then he was sacked.”
