Ghana defender Samuel Inkoom claims former Cameroon star Samuel Eto’o played a huge role in his decision to play at Antalyaspor in Turkey, where the former Barcelona player remains an influential figure.
Inkoom joined the Super Lig outfit last January from Portuguese side Boavista, which he says was a dream come true to play alongside his idol Eto’o.
“Eto’o played a big role. He spoke to me. Everybody knows it was my dream to play with him. He did everything for me to come to Antalyaspor,” Inkoom told Goal.
“Eto’o has played high level football for so many years. He played for Barcelona. He’s kind of a player who motives his teammates every time. He speaks with everybody, he understands everybody and he is a leader on the pitch as well. I don’t even call him as my teammate. I call him my big brother because he is unique. He is doing everything for Antalyaspor,” he said.
Although Inkoom claims to be enjoying his career at Antalyaspor, he would not hesitate to join one of the top four clubs (Besiktas, Fenerbahce, Galatasaray, Trabzonspor) in Turkey if the opportunity emerges.
“If you play good football lots of teams will approach you. That is the most important thing. If I’m playing very well, I know a lot of offers will come. It’s a dream for every player to play for a big team. It’s a dream for every player to move forward. I will say the name of Antalyaspor also, because when I play for Antalyaspor the big teams will see me. If any offers come and it’s good for Antalyaspor then why not?” He added.
