‘I didn’t say I caught my girlfriend in bed with another guy, I was misquoted’ – Joshua Clottey

Former world champion Joshua Clottey has poured chilled water on his girlfriend’s alleged sex scandal.

The hard hitting boxer was quoted on many media platforms to have caught his girlfriend in bed with another man before his eliminator bout against Jose Luis Cruz in New York, USA in 2008.

According to the reports, Clottey, sharing his take on the infamous Amanda-Afriyie Acquah leaked recordings admitted catching his girlfriend in the act.

But the ex-International Boxing Federation (IBF) Welterweight champion has rubbished aside the reports saying, “My brother, the guys have misquoted me, and that is why I decided some time ago not to grant interview to any radio station.

The former IBF champion stressed: “The reporter asked my take on the Afriyie-Amanda and the Jordan issue and in explaining cited myself and my girlfriend as an example.

“We had some misunderstanding so she left the room, I followed later but it ended there, I didn’t say I caught my girl in the act and also had sleeplessness night and as a result lost my fight. I won that fight if you remember.

“I did tail her secretly not because I was suspecting her, but wasn’t sure where she was going in the cold in a foreign land and more so she was angry, so I was being protective.

“I am not eloquent in the Twi language, so I have been a victim of circumstances on two occasions; I suffered bad press after my fight against Pacman when I explained what accounted for the loss and today look at what they are saying about me. I understand but speaking has always been a problem. It is not true that I caught my wife sleeping with another man.”
