Gonzalo Higuain has turned down an absurd offer to join the Chinese Super League revolution, according to reports.
The Napoli striker has been a long-term target for Arsenal.
Recent reports have suggested that Arsene Wenger is prepared to use Olivier Giroud as bait to try and lure Higuain to the Emirates.
Arsenal though are in the midst of a striker crisis, and could have just Chuba Akpom ready for the start of the season.
But it seems there is hope for the Gunners insofar as signing Higuain goes.
Reports claimed that the Argentine hitman turned down an astonishing £800,000-a-week contract to play for Hebei China Fortune.
Graziano Pelle became the latest high-profile player to join the Chinese Super League on Tuesday when he signed for Shandong Luneng from Southampton.
It is believed he will earn £34million over the next two-and-half-years, which when broken down, equates to £260,000 a week.
Arsenal, who have signed Granit Xhaka this summer, will be hoping to go one step further than last season when they finished runners-up in the Premier League to champions Leicester.
