‘Hearts were too strong for us’ – Liberty Captain Alfred Nelson

Captain of Liberty Professionals, Alfred Nelson has lauded the play of Hearts of Oak in his side’s 0-1 home loss to the former premier league champions stating that the Phobians deserved to win the game.

Alfred Nelson and his charges failed to curtail the attacking movement of Hearts of Oak trident of Foovi Aguidi, Kenneth Okoro and Eric Kumi and in one of their dangerous moves,  Liberty defenders were caught off guard in the 60th minute as the Togolese import punished the home side.

The win gave the Phobians some hope of surviving in the league based on the points gap on the log sheet while Liberty position on the table is not save as they will need some points in the rest of the league games before beating the drop zone[relegation].

The former Unistar Academy defender now captain for the Dansoman based club, Alfred Nelson has lauded the aggressive play of the Phobians in their 0-1 loss which according to him the Accra giants deserved the win.

“Hearts of Oak were fantastic on the day, they came in strongly and captured the midfield and they deserved to win. I will say everybody is disappointed with the score line because we needed to win or at least a draw would have been good for us but we lost.

All hopes are not lost, we are looking at the future and the future is bright for Liberty,” Nelson told Allsports.com.gh after the game.

The 22 year old guardsman is highly optimistic of his side’s survival in the top-flight division at the end of the season.

“I’m very confident we will survive and I know we will gather points let see what happens we are very positive and determined so we will see what the future holds for Liberty because we have an away strategy, I have three yellow cards so I will not join the team but I’m very confident that system will work for us at Wa,” he added.

Liberty next league game is against Wa Allstars at Wa Park on Sunday.
