Hearts of Oak recorded an impressive 5-0 pre-season friendly triumph over a lower tier side on Wednesday but head coach Kenichi Yatsuhashi has been quick to downplay the win.
The Accra-based side have seen disappointing results in three earlier preparatory games ahead of the 2015-16 Ghana Premier League season.
A 4-1 thrashing at the hands of Wafa preceded back-to-back 3-0 and 2-0 defeats to Libyan side Ahli Tripoli in their training tour to the North African country.
“Had a friendly game, we won but my assistant coach and I saw a lot of areas we need to improve, as well as many positives,” Kenichi revealed on twitter.
“It’s only preparation [and] the score line is less important. It is how we played that matters.
“How we played against Al Ahli in Libya for the second game was excellent.
“We did not play so well but we won.”
The 46-year-old was named Hearts coach in October, signing a two-year contract.
Among his immediate objectives, he will hope to steer the Accra-based side back to winning ways following a disappointing 2014-15 season where Hearts finished 13th – a place above the relegation zone.
Hearts have been drawn against Aduana Stars and Medeama in Group A of the 2016 Ghalca G6 tournament which is scheduled to commence on January 7.
