The chairman of the Strategic Committee of Hearts of Oak, Vincent Sowah Odotei, believes the club is on course to rediscover their good old days.
The Phobians, who finished last season on a disappointing 13th position, wrapped up preparations for the 2015-16 Ghana Premier League with a 2-1 defeat of Dreams FC last Sunday, having earlier picked wins over Nigerian side Ifeanyi Ubah and Swedru Professionals, in addition to a stalemate with Inter Allies.
“We have done a lot of work on the team and brought in some seasoned players to blend with the young ones we started grooming last season and the results are beginning to show,” Sowah told GraphicSports.
“We have signed on Richard Akrofi who is expected to strengthen the centre of our defense as well as Mustapha Essuman and Samudeen Ibrahim who seem to have brought some life into our midfield.
“These, together with Samuel Yeboah – an experienced striker – are some of the good things that have happened to the team and together with coach Kenich [Yatsuhashi].”
Hearts started preparation for the upcoming season on a shaky note following defeats to Wafa, Libyan side Ahli Tripoli and a group stage elimination in the 2016 Ghalca G6 Tournament.
The Accra-based side begin the 2015-16 topflight, which kicks off on Saturday, with a home clash with New Edubiase.
