Hasaacas’ dream of owning an inspiring multisport complex has been smashed after the project’s main partner pulled out of initials plans.
Zakhem, a UK construction firm, withdrew their sponsorship after announcing their involvement in other public works contracts awarded by the Ghanaian government.
The firm was to offer a modern multisport complex containing a training pitch, gym, coaches’ residence in exchange for Hasaacas’ facility located at Chapel Hill, a surburb of Takorad.
“Zakhem Construction which acquired our land (at Chapel Hill) wrote to us that government has given them a very big contract and that will delay the construction of the sports complex, so they want to opt out” Hasaacas’ deputy Chief Executive Joseph Ofori Acquah told Takoradi-based Empire FM.
Hasaacas finished seventh with 42 points in the 2014 /15 GPL season.
