Hamilton despair as engine blows

The Malaysian Grand Prix turned into a nightmare for Lewis Hamilton when his engine blew and saw him out of the race while leading.

A lack of points makes his ambition to be world champion again more complicated and the frustration could be heard in his voice.

“Noooooo!” was the cry that was picked up on the team radio, the Englishman immediately understanding that it was the end of his Grand Prix.

After an opening which had left Hamilton clear of his rivals, thanks to to a coming together between Vettel and Verstappen which had also hindered Mercedes teammate Nico Rosberg, another victory was there for the taking.

However, on lap 41 of the 56 stipulated for the race, the combustion chamber of Hamilton’s engine exploded.

With the tailpipe of the car on fire, he got out and knelt desolate at the side of the track.

The championship is not lost, but the Englishman can’t deny that it will be very difficult now.
