Ghanaian midfielder Mohammed Abubakari has been named Swedish club BK Hacken’s 2015 Player of the Year after shrugging off competition from Paulinho Guerreiro.
The 30-year-old, who previously played for Åtvidaberg, joined Hacken last season as a free agent. However, his consistent display in midfield in his debut campaign helped the club finish 7th on a 16-team log with 45 points.
“It is a great achievement for me as this is my first season at the club,” Abubakari toldFootballmadeinghana.
“I hope to do more and propel my team to win the league title next season,” he added.
Abubakari played 23 league games, starting 21 and scoring one goal. He provided four assists and was booked four times as well.
He also becomes the second Ghanaian to achieve such feat after Majeed Waris won the accolade during 2011/12 season.
