The Chief Executive Officer of Asamoah Gyan Foundation, Mr. Samuel Anim Addo, has assured Ghanaians that the Shanghai SIPG forward will be for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Mozambique.
Ghana’s Black Stars will host Mozambique at the Accra Sports Stadium on Thursday March 24 and Anim Addo has condemned reports that striker, Asamoah Gyan will be missing in action.
The Sunderland and Stade Rennes hit-man suffered an injury in Shanghai SIPG’s opening Asian Champions League clash with Melbourne Victory three weeks ago and was also absent against Korean side Suwon Bluewings.
Gyan was also missed out SIPG’s 1-0 Chinese Super League opening day defeat against Henan Jianye last weekend but Anim Addo says his absence was not due to any serious problem.
According to him, it was only a precautionary measure ahead of Friday’s derby clash against Shanghai Shenhua.
“This sort of journalism must be condemned because you don’t know the degree of the injury Asamoah has, but you just go ahead and publish that he will be missing a big game like this without even consulting the Ghana FA but let us assure you all that the captain will be arriving on the reporting day.” Anim Addo said in an interview with Starr FM in Accra.
