Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan admits there is pressure on coach Avram Grant to do well with the side at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.
The 56-year-old will be leading the Black Stars to this month’s tournament as his first major assignment since taking over from interim coach Maxwell Konadu back in November.
Grant is required by the Ghana FA to only do well with the team in Equatorial Guinea and then win the 2017 edition.
But Asamoah Gyan says there is always the high expectation by Ghanaians of the team doing well as one of the big teams on the continent.
“Avram Grant knows he is coaching one of the giants in African football,” he told GHANAsoccernet.com.
“Ghana is a football nation and therefore there will always be pressure.”
Grant is currently preparing his team in Spain for the tournament.
He must steer the Black Stars from a tough group where they face Senegal, South Africa and Algeria.
