Inter Allies take on league leaders Hearts of Oak in matchday five of the Ghana Premier League at the Tema Sports Stadium on Saturday.
Hearts have enjoyed an incredible start to the season, after picking up 10 points out of a maximum 12, twice of the total points amassed after five games last season under Hebert Addo, who will now be in the opposite direction, steering affairs for Allies.
Inter Allies midfielder Evans Mensah wants his side to spring a surprise when they take on the Phobians in Tema Sports. Hearts, coached by Japanese Kenichi Yastuhashi, with his phenomenal “Sushi” tactics as called by the supporters, will be brimming with confidence having not conceded in their two away games played so far, but Mensah stresses that Allies are determined ahead of the weekend’s top-liner as they have also not lost at home in 10 games.
“Hearts have an enviable start to the season compared to last term,” Mensah said.
“But we’re really looking forward to the game and it’s our target to halt their run. We hope to grab the maximum points at stake to compensate our fans for the two consecutive draws in our last two games against Dreams FC and Edubiase United,” he added.
Hearts of Oak has an upper hand over Allies when it come to league, with the Tema based club only claiming one win over Phobians ever since playing in the top-flight, and also failing to record a win in their last two successive games this season.
Hearts come into Saturday’s game with an explosive form, having defeated Bechem United 3-1 last Sunday and are two points clear at the top of the table.
Since 1999, Hearts have lost only one of their previous away games played on matchday five (against Berekum Chelsea in 2012-13 season), winning four and sharing the spoils twice, making their encounter aginst Bechem an interesting one.
