At the Carl Reindorf Park, Liberty Professionals defeated new boys Techiman 1-0 in the Ghana Premier League on Sunday.
A goal from Latif Blessing, who scored a header from a Tamimu Muntari cross in the 69th minute was all that the host needed to secure three points. The goal was his first goal of season.
Liberty nearly took an early advantage, but Techiman’s goalkeeper Frank Boateng produced a world class save to deny the home side.
Techiman City’s tactics was to sit back and soak all the pressure from Liberty, in order to hit them on a counter attack.
While City tried heavens to force Liberty to adjust to their game plan, the Scientific Soccer Lads emerged with a goal in the 69th minute.
The experienced Tamimu Muntari weighed in a cross from the right and Latif Blessing rose above his markers to steer a cross into Frank Kodie’s net.
Liberty Professional next match is against Wafa, while Techiman City face Dreams in what is labelled as the match of the debutants.
