GPL Match day 6 Wrap: Kotoko woes continue, Hearts and Ashgold beaten

Hearts of Oak’s unbeaten run in the Ghana Premier League came to an end on Sunday after falling to Wa All Stars on matchday six at the Accra Sports Stadium.

Kweku Asuandzie and Richard Arthur scored two first-half goals for away side All Stars before Musah Ibrahim halved the deficit in the 50th minute.

Emmanuel Ocran, however, restored All Stars’ two-goal lead four minutes later to give Enos Kwame Adipah’s men a 3-1 victory. Hearts have consequently relinquished their first position to All Stars on the league standings.

A 55th minute Yahaya Mohammed strike proved the difference as Aduana Stars piped Asante Kotoko 1-0 at the Dormaa Park.

Saddick Adams scored first for Berekum Chelsea but Saliw Babawo and Eric Bekoe scored two second-half goals to give Hasaacas a 2-1 win at the Sekondi-Essipong Sports Stadium.

At the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman, Liberty Professionals handed reigning champions Ashanti Gold a 5-1 drubbing with goals from Ebo Mends, Latif Blessing (2x), Simon Zibo and Bernard Arthur. Anthony Yerful fetched the Miners’ consolation.

Bechem United suffered their third defeat of the season following a 2-0 loss to Medeama at the Tarkwa T&A Park. Abass Mohammed and Kwesi Donsu scored for the home side.

Techiman City held New Edubiase to a 2-2 stalemate at the Obuasi Len Clay Stadium. James Boadu and Samed Ibrahim found the back of the net for the latter while Baba Mahama and Stephen Manu scored for City.

Lawson Bekui scored the only goal of the game in the 86th minute as Dreams FC handed Wafa a 1-0 defeat at the Dawu Park.

And earlier on Saturday, Ebusua Dwarfs recorded their second win of the season with a 3-1 victory over Inter Allies. Nicholas Gyan, Samuel Quayeson and Bright Lukman scored for Dwarfs while Gockel Ahortor found the away side’s solitary goal.
