Gor Mahia to face sanctions for skipping GOtv clash

Gor Mahia will face heavy sanctions after boycotting a third position play-off match against Muhoroni Youth in GOtv Shield on Sunday.

The Kenyan Premier League champions failed to turn up for the match at Nyayo Stadium, with their opponents given a walk-over and Sh750, 000 reward for finishing third.

“It is not our problem that the management failed to raise a team to play against Muhoroni Youth, that is their problem and not the federation’s. As a matter of fact, action shall be taken against the team, and they will not be given the Sh500, 000 set for the fourth team,” Football Kenya Federation’s Media Liaison Officer John Kariuki told Goal.

Gor Mahia failed to reach the final after falling to Nakumatt, but will represent Kenya in next year’s Caf Champions League.
