Ghana U20 target World Cup qualification at African Youth Championships

Ghana U20 management committee chairman Winfred Osei says the team’s priority at the Africa Youth Championship is to first make the semi finals which will qualify the side for the World Cup.

The Black Satellites have been drawn in Group B of the AYC which will be staged in Senegal.

Ghana will be facing South Africa, Mali and Zambia in next year’s championships.

The 2009 World Champions are desperate to return to the world stage and say that will be their priority before strategizing to win the competition.

“Our first target is to reach the semi finals so that we can qualify for the World Cup,” Winfred Osei told Happy FM.

“Once we achieve that target, we will then formulate a strategy to win the tournament.”

Ghana finished second in the last edition of the AYC staged in Algeria where they lost to Egypt in the grand finale.
