Ghana FA Congress opens; Hikari and Aburi Highlanders expelled for taking GFA to court

Ghana FA President Kwesi Nyantakyi has opened the Ordinary session of Congress with the first item on the agenda being the unanimous approval of a proposal to expel Hikari FC and Aburi Highlanders FC for taking the GFA to court.

The two were put before congress for expulsion in accordance of Article 17 of the GFA Statutes  for taking the Eastern Regional Football Association to the ordinary law court for redress.

The court action instigated by the two members stifled the development of football in the Eastern Region over a period of time as the RFA were unable to hold congress – a pre-requisite for the start of their regional competitions.

Out of the eighty five (85) delegates present, eighty three (83) voted in favour of the motion [for the expulsion of Hikari FC] – representing a massive 97.6 percent endorsement while two -Hearts of Oak and Samosa FC abstained.

Aburi Highlanders were also expelled after 98.3 percent voted went against them with just one abstention.
