Galatasaray to pay tribute to victims of Ankara terror attack

Galatasaray players and staff will wear black armbands during Thursday’s Europa League clash with Lazio¬†to pay tribute to the victims of a terrorist attack in Ankara on Wednesday, according to media reports..

The attack, which caused 28 confirmed fatalities and seriously injured over 60 people, has been described as an act of terrorism by Turkey’s deputy prime minister Bekir Bozdag¬†and Galatasaray are set to commemorate the victims of the explosion in the Turkish capital.

As well as wearing black armbands, there will be a minute’s silence ahead of the match with Lazio in Istanbul, a city that has its own recent experience of terrorist attacks, after a suicide bomber left more than 10 people dead in January.

Reports suggest that clubs across Turkey will also look to carry out similar commemorations in matches across the country this weekend.
