FCPPL Match day 9 Results and Stats

Former Premier League champions Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways with a thrilling 3-2 win over Aduana Stars in Accra on Wednesday afternoon on match day nine of the ongoing First Capital Plus Premier League.

After a scoreless first club, Landry Bosson opened the scores for Hearts of Oak before Isaac Oduro added a second with a well-taken free kick.

Aduana Stars fought back and won a penalty, which was converted by Godfred Saka.

Gilbert Fiamenyo restored Hearts of Oak’s two-goal advantage, but James Abban scored late on to set up a grandstand finish.

The result leaves Aduana Stars in second place but six points adrift.

Defending champions Asante Kotoko remain without a win after a 1-1 draw with Berekum Chelsea in Berekum. Ahmed Toure struck 16 minutes from time to give the Porcupine Warriors the lead, but Bennett Ofori hit back with eight minutes remaining to secure a point for the hosts.

Ashanti Gold needed an injury time equalizer by defender Joshua Tijani to secure a 2-2 draw with Heart of Lions. Yakubu Mohammed had given the Miners the lead, but Baffour Gyawu netted a brace either side of half time to give the visitors the lead. Heart of Lions looked like securing an important win until Tijani’s intervention late on.

Inter Allies climbed to fourth on goal difference after a 2-0 win over B.A. United in Tema. Niare Benogo and Sherriff Mohammed were on target for the hosts.

West African Football Academy (WAFA) continued its good form with a 3-1 win over New Edubiase United in Sogakope. Zakaria Mumuni scored twice in the first 35 minutes and Ashimeru Majeed added a third just before halftime. Bismark Idan pulled one back late on for the visitors.

Goals from Emmanuel Gyamfi, Asuandzie Baffoe and Stephen Nyarko saw Wa All Stars lead Hasaacas 3-0 at half time in Wa. Kojo Poku pulled one back for the visitors 11 minutes from time.

Medeama SC was held to a 1-1 draw by Liberty Professionals in Tarkwa, with Nathaniel Asamoah’s early strike cancelled out by an own goal by Nurudeen Ali.
