League leaders Ashanti Gold saw its lead cut further down to two points after a 0-0 draw with New Edubiase United in Obuasi on match day 23 of the ongoing First Capital Plus Premier League. Berekum Chelsea took full advantage by defeating Liberty Professionals 2-0 in Berekum to close the gap, with goals scored by Paul Aidoo and Kofi Owusu.
Hearts of Oak returned to winning ways in spectacular fashion; thrashing Heart of Lions 4-0 in Cape Coast. Selasi Adjei scored the opening goal but injured himself in the process and was substituted. Togolese import Foovi Aguidi then netted a brace, with Eric Kumi scoring Hearts of Oak’s fourth goal just before half time. In the second half Hearts of Oak goalkeeper Soulaima Abdoulaye and Heart of Lions midfielder Hudu Yakubu were both sent off for fighting but no further goals were scored. The result lifts Hearts of Oak out of the relegation places.
Asante Kotoko’s woes continued in Sogakope after a 0-1 loss to the West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) Ashimeru Majeed scored the game’s only goal to seal all three points.

Baba Mensah converted a penalty and Eliasu Fuseini was on target as Inter Allies beat Hasaacas 2-0 in Tema, whilst an own goal by George Brako saw B.A. United draw 1-1 with Great Olympics in Sunyani, after Daniel Appiah had drawn first blood for the visitors.
