FCPPL Match day 22 Results and Stats

Hearts of Oak dropped into relegation trouble after suffering a 0-1 loss to Aduana Stars in Dormaa on Sunday. This was match day 22 of the ongoing First Capital Plus Premier League. Richard Arhin scored his seventh goal of the season to condemn Hearts of Oak to defeat, despite the sacking of head coach Herbert Addo in midweek.

In Kumasi, defending champions Asante Kotoko were humbled in  a 0-3 reverse to Berekum Chelsea. Kofi Owusu, who has played for Asante Kotoko’s city rivals King Faisal in the past, netted the game’s opening goal in the first half. Owusu then scored a second in the second half before Asiwome Fumador completed the rout. It was Berekum Chelsea’s first win in Kumasi over Asante Kotoko for four years.

Ashanti Gold’s charge towards the league title was halted somewhat after a 1-2 loss to Heart of Lions in Kpando. Hudu Yakubu and Tanko Mohammed scored for Lions, with Yakubu Mohammed responding for Ashanti Gold. The Miners are now only four points clear of Berekum Chelsea.

Goals by Ropapa Mensah and Emmanuel Nettey gave Inter Allies a 2-0 win over B.A. United in Accra on Saturday. The win moves Inter Allies to fourth on the standings.

A late Kwame Boateng strike gave Great Olympics a 2-1 win over Bechem United in Accra on Sunday. Godwin Attram scored early on for Great Olympics, before Issah Adamu leveled for the visitors. Boateng’s goal sealed all three points for the Wonder club.

Liberty Professionals and Medeama SC drew 0-0 in Dansoman, whilst Hasaacas drew 1-1 with Wa All Stars in Sekondi, with Augustine Arhinful’s penalty for the hosts cancelled out by Joshua Otoo’s leveler for the visitors.
