City rivals Great Olympics and Hearts of Oak fought out a pulsating 0-0 draw on match day 14 of the ongoing First Capital Plus Premier League on Sunday in Accra. Hearts of Oak had chances but were largely repulsed by a defence well marshaled by ex-Ghana defender Dan Quaye, whilst Olympics themselves saw some chances wasted with Agbeshie Dotse.
Ashanti Gold had its lead at the top of the log cut to three points after a 0-1 loss to Wa All Stars in Wa. Asuandze Baffoe scored the game’s only goal to claim al three points for the hosts.
Aduana Stars moved to within three points of first place after a hard fought 1-0 win over regional rivals Bechem United in Dormaa. Richard Addai scored the game’s only goal to seal all three points.
In another regional derby, bottom club B.A. United defeated Berekum Chelsea 2-1 in Sunyani to move to five points adrift of safety. Mustapha Mohammed and Charles Oppong gave the hosts a 2-0 lead, before Stephen Baffour scored a consolation goal for Berekum Chelsea at the death.
Haminu Dramani scored to secure a point as New Edubiase United drew 2-2 with champions Asante Kotoko in Obuasi. Bernard Ofori had given New Edubiase United the lead, before Jordan Opoku and Emmanuel Asante scored to hand the visitors a 2-1 lead. Dramani then struck late on the level the scores.
Hasaacas and Medeama SC also fought out a thrilling 2-2 draw in Sekondi. Emmanuel Ankobeah gave Hasaacas the lead, but Hans Kwofie leveled for the Yellow and Mauves. Nathaniel Asamoah then scored to put Medeama SC into the lead, before Ankobeah bagged his second goal of the game to steal a point for Hasaacas.
Heart of Lions drew 0-0 with Liberty Professionals in Kpando, whilst on Saturday, a Martin Antwi strike saw West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) defeat Inter Allies 1-0 in Tema.
