FCPPL Match day 11 Results and Stats

Ashanti Gold over the weekend stretched its lead at the top of the First Capital Plus Premier League to six points with a 1-0 win over Hasaacas in Obuasi. Hasaacas defender Daniel Egyin scored an own goal with twenty minutes remaining to hand the Miners the maximum three points.

David Duncan got off to a winning start as Asante Kotoko defeated Bechem United 3-1 in Bechem. Michael Akuffo gave the Porcupine Warriors the lead after 30 seconds and almost immediately, the hosts had a penalty, which was converted by Noah Martey. Ahmed Toure restored Asante Kotoko’s lead mid way through the first half before Akuffo sealed the points just after the hour mark.

Gilbert Fiamenyo netted a brace as Hearts of Oak secured a 2-0 win over B.A. United in Accra. Fiamenyo scored eight minutes before half time to put the hosts 1-0 up, before sealing the points four minutes from time.

Former Ghana youth forward Latif Salifu scored the game’s only goal as Berekum Chelsea defeated Heart of Lions 1-0 in Berekum, but after the Disciplinary Committee of the Ghana Football Association rejected an application from the club on a stay of execution in respect of losing points as a result of failing to pay West Africa Football Academy (WAFA) $59,722.23 as onward transfer fees for Solomon Asante, Chelsea are automatically 0-3 losers pending the outcome of an appeal launched by the club against the decision.

WAFA’s fine start to the season continued with a 2-1 win over Aduana Stars in Sogakope on Saturday. Team captain Martin Antwi scored the opening goal as early as the 2nd minute, but Richard Arhin leveled six minutes after the break, before Bashir Umar scored the winning goal 12 minutes later.

Wa All Stars also defeated Inter Allies 2-1 in Wa, with Richard Arthur and Emmanuel Gyamfi giving the hosts a 2-0 lead, before Frederick Boateng pulled one back for the visitors late on.

Nathaniel Asamoah scored twice as Medeama SC thrashed New Edubiase United 3-0 in Tarkwa. Malik Akowuah had given the Yellow and Mauves the lead before Asamoah scored twice within six minutes in the second half.

Great Olympics snatched a 1-0 victory over Liberty Professionals in Dansoman. Agbeshie Dotsie scored six minutes before half time and Olympics had former Ghana international Richard Kingson to thank for some great saves in the second half to keep all three points.
