A lone strike by midfielder Elvis Opoku saw Aduana Stars defeat Ashanti Gold 1-0 in Dormaa on match day 10 of the ongoing First Capital Plus Premier League. The result sees Aduana Stars cut Ashanti Gold’s lead to three points.
Sherriff Deo Mohammed was on target as Inter Allies defeated Great Olympics 1-0 in Accra to move to third, whilst Heart of Lions stays fourth despite a 0-0 draw in Kpando with West Africa Football Academy (WAFA).
Liberty Professionals defeated Bechem United 3-2 in a thriller at Dansoman. At the match, watched by Black Stars head coach Avram Grant, Kennedy Ashia converted a penalty, before Noah Martey missed a penalty to draw the visitors level. An own goal by Bechem United goalkeeper Kweku Stephen however restored parity, before goals by Bernard Arthur and Ashia in the second half gave Liberty Professionals a 3-1 lead. Yaw Mensah pulled one back for Bechem United but the hosts held on for all three points.
Twins Alhassan and Fuseini Nuhu gave New Edubiase United a 2-0 lead over Berekum Chelsea in Obuasi, before Stephen Baffour pulled one back in the second half for the visitors.
Asante Kotoko needed a late goal from Ahmed Toure to avoid defeat against Medeama SC in Kumasi. Benjamin Bature had given the Yellow and Mauves the lead early in the second half, before Eric Donkor’s cross saw Toure heading home to secure the Porcupine Warriors a point. Asante Kotoko however lies in the relegation places, with 11 points from 10 games.
Hearts of Oak fought out a 1-1 draw with Hasaacas in Sekondi. A Gilbert Fiamenyo shot was defelcted home by Hasaacas defender Kingsley Agyei for the opener, before Daniel Egyin converted a penalty to restore parity.
Mohammed Gargo’s first game as head coach of B.A. United ended in defeat as the ‘Apostles of Power Soccer’ lost 1-2 to Wa All Stars in Sunyani. Emmanuel Gyamfi put the visitors 1-0 up before Francis Kyeremeh leveled for B.A. United. Yakubu Wadudu however scored to seal all three points for Wa All Stars.
