FCPPL Match day 1 Results and Stats

Defending champions Asante Kotoko began their title defence on a losing note after a 0-1 loss to Aduana Stars in Dormaa. Richard Arhin headed home a 12th minute header to seal the points, with Emmanuel Akuoko having a splendid game containing Ahmed Toure. Not only has Asante Kotoko failed to win in Dormaa since Aduana Stars joined the Premier League five seasons ago, but the Porcupine Warriors have failed to score in Dormaa during that time.

Hasaacas ends match day one on top of the standings thanks to a 3-1 win over Liberty Professionals in Sekondi. Freddie Quayson scored the opening goal and Ghana youth striker Samuel Afful netted a brace to kill the game for Hasaacas. Alfred Azumah scored a consolation goal for Liberty Professionals

MTN FA Cup finalists Inter Allies began the season brightly with a 2-0 win over Medeama SC in Tema. Lord Ofosuhene gave Inter Allies the lead, before Malian import Niare Benogo scored the second to seal the points.

Ashanti Gold gave Premier League returnees Great Olympics a baptism of fire after a 2-0 win in Obuasi. Bernard Morrison scored the opening goal before Emmanuel Baffour, goal king with New Edubiase United three years ago, added a second to seal all three points for the Miners.

Heart of Lions underlined their title credentials with a 2-0 win over New Edubiase United in Kpando. Isaac Twum and Usman Muntaka both scored in the first half to give the Kpando lads the victory.

A lone strike by Stephen Nyarko proved the winner as Wa All Stars defeated Berekum Chelsea 1-0 in Wa.

On Saturday, Gilbert Fiamenyo was on target as Hearts of Oak defeated West Africa football Academy (WAFA) 1-0 in Kpando, whilst an Isaac Danso strike gave Premier League returnees B.A. United a 1-0 win over Bechem United in Sunyani.
