Prime Minister Binali Yildirim denounced the action by stating it was illegal – stressing it wasn’t a coup – but the Turkish military claims it has overthrown President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan.
“The power in the country has been seized in its entirety,” read a statement on NTV television, but who represents the group remains uncertain.
