Eric Bekoe happy with his new role at Hasaacas

Eric Bekoe says coach Yusif Basigi favored him a lot last Saturday with the role assigned him when Hasaacas beat Techiman City 4-2 in Sekondi.

Bekoe, who is typically a lead striker from his days at Liberty Professionals, Heart of Lions and his famous stint at Kotoko, was deployed to play behind two other strikers against the league debutant.

Yet his new role did not deny Bekoe the opportunity to score, as he grabbed a brace from the penalty spot and a free kick to open his goal account for the season.

He says the decision from Basigi was very smart following the clumsy tackles he encountered against Wa All Stars on match day one.

“Coach did me a very big favour because when we went to Wa All Stars, I was the eye of the defenders. They were kicking me here and there, heading my back and all sort of things but as he gave me this role I had the privilege, the chance, the freedom to play the way I want and you see how the goals came and all that.

“I have to work more because with this kind of role you need to work extra extra extra. So as a player am going to be submissive and then listen to whatever role they will tell me to play and just listen to them and play well,” he said.

The former Ghana League top scorer further stated that, he won’t be carried away by the pleasure of scoring a brace in his first home game.

“There is more room for improvement because as a player there are more things to do. I shouldn’t let this flatter me or make me swollen headed. There are more things to do, there is a whole lot of work to be done on me in particular because the expectations are more. I know with the help of the technical team things will be fine.  Like you can see today, I was given a role to play and the coach was also happy with the way I took things.”

He however called on the fans for patience as he couldn’t join the club for pre-season and so it will take time for the team to gel.

“The fans should have patience because we are now blending. We couldn’t get the chance to work during the pre-season at least to blend ourselves so is taking us time and this is the time to have patience for the coach, the players and everything. You can see how things went with the little that we blended and I know with time Hasaacas will be the team that will scare clubs when you are going to face us” he intimated.
