Egypt keeps quarter final hope Alive

The pharaohs of Egypt yesterday kept their hopes of qualifying to the quarter finals of the ongoing AFCON alive after a wonder strike from El Said Abdullah in the 89th minute.the first half of the game was full of missed chances as both teams didn’t do much infront of goal.Despite Egypt had more of the possession ,they struggled to create any  danger .

The only closest they came was after 24minutes when Mohammed Salah run down the right down to go past his marker yet his effort didn’t cause any trouble for Ugandan goalie Dennis Onyango. Uganda tried their luck 5minutes later with a long shot from Farouk Miya which missed the goal.

Joseph Ochaya thought he had given Uganda the lead 7minutes into the 2nd part of the game but his celebrations were unfortunately cut short when it was ruled offside.Egypt manager Hector cuper then brought on El said for defensive midfielder Tarek Hamed .El Said made an immediate impact with his first touch  after his shot went wide. Egypt began to threaten and it seemed like something was going to happen, but  it didn’t take that long when Mahmoud Abdel Moneim in a counter attack passed the ball to Salah who laid it beautifully to El said, who drove a shot through the legs of goal keeper Onyango to seal a victory for the pharaohs. Now Egypt will need atleast a draw  when they play Ghana on Wednesday.
