Egypt yesterday beat the black stars of Ghana by 1-0 after Mohammed Salah converted a free kick 11minutes to give the pharaohs their second win of the tournament to go top of the Group D, with seven points richer than Ghana who had already secured qualification prior to the game.

Egypt started with their  first chance after 3minutes when Elneny,s shot from 20yards went just over the bar. Ghana,s midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu  tried his luck in a similar fate but couldn’t hit the target. It didn’t take long until 11th minute when Mohammed Salah gave the pharaoh,s the lead through a beautiful freekick which went past goalkeeper Razak Braimah.

The black stars of Ghana controlled most part of the game in terms of possesion after the goal, but the Egyptian defense marshalled by Ahmed Hagezy and Ali Gabr made it very difficult for the Ghanaians to penetrate through.Egypt almost doubled their lead after 39minutes through Marawan Mohsen after a gifted ball from Razak Braimah but the later,s shot flew just over the bar.

The black stars suffered  a blow after captain Asamoah Djan strained his thigh and was  replaced by Jordan Ayew 3 minutes before the break.after a  few seconds,Andre Ayew sent in a cross to Daniel Amartey but the Leicester man missed the target.

Ghana returned from the break with the first chance after 58minutes, when Christian Atsu dribbled past 2 defenders but failed to find a decisive shot with goalkeeper Hossam El Hadary not bother.

Ghana,s Atsu continued to threaten after the hour mark but still  couldn’t find the target until the full time whistle was blown, which leaves Ghana 2nd in Group D as they qualify along side Egypt to the quarter finals, where they will meet DR Congo.
