Ebusua Dwarfs striker Bright Lukeman insists his side will defeat Hearts of Oak at the Robert Mensah Stadium on Match day Three of the Ghana Premier League to halt the Phobians’ winning streak.
The Accra-based side have recorded two wins in two games against Edubiase United and Medeama while their weekend hosts are without a point after falling to Dreams FC and Edubaise.
“We are still fine and unified despite the defeats. Although we’re not at our best, I think we will have a good game and defeat Hearts of Oak in the process,” Lukeman told Goal.
“The players are poised for action because a defeat in this game means we’re already moving closer to relegation dog-fight at this early stage.
“Many see the task impossible especially with Hearts’ consistent performances which have been characterised by an awesome second half show. All their goals have come after the intervals and it shows their class and fitness but nothing is impossible. With strength and teamwork, we can win,” he added.
Lukeman also advises the club’s supporters to rally behind under-fire manager J.E Sarpong despite losing twice in a roll.
“Sarpong is one of the best and most experienced managers in the system but he needs support in this difficult moment. He qualified the team from the second-tier last season so we shouldn’t use only two games to judge him.
“He will definitely come good before the first round of the season comes to an end. With his quality on our bench, Hearts will struggle to match us. We need to win and we will do just that to do away with the increasing pressure.”
Lukeman netted 29 goals in 30 games, providing 14 assists in the second-tier league en route to Dwarfs’ qualification.
