Dreams FC coach Charles Akunnor believes Asante Kotoko have a lot to prove when they visit the Theatre of Dreams on Wednesday in matchday eight of the Ghana Premier League.
The Kumasi-based club have recorded only two wins in seven games so far, which led to the sacking of coach David Duncan.
“Asante Kotoko are currently facing challenges but that is not an advantage for us. It’s rather a disadvantage,” Akunnor told Ghanasoccernet.
“Their players want to prove a point as well as the new technical team so if you underrate them, they will surprise you.
“Despite their challenges, we also have our image and history to protect. We have not lost a league game at home and we’re not ready to surrender that,” he added.
Akunnor also revealed that he will not rule out coaching Kotoko in the future despite his past as a player and coach of the Porcupine Warriors fierce rivals Hearts of Oak.
“As a coach, I can’t rule out a move to any club including Kotoko. I can coach Al Ahly in the future and in the same way, I can coach Kotoko. If the opportunity comes I will grab it,” he added.
