Diego Costa, Gabriel, Chelsea and Arsenal all charged by FA

The FA have released a statement confirming that Diego Costa, Gabriel, Chelsea and Arsenal have all been charged following Saturday’s highly charged game at Stamford Bridge.

WHAT HAPPENED?

The charges revolve around a 43rd-minute incident that started with a grapple between Costa and Laurent Koscielny.

Costa appeared to swing his arm into the defender’s face before the two squared up and the Spanish striker shoved Koscielny to the ground.

Gabriel helped his team-mate up and a lengthy dispute between the defender and Costa erupted. Both were booked by referee Mike Dean before Gabriel then kicked out at the striker.

THE CHARGES

“Diego Costa has been charged for an alleged act of violent conduct which was not seen by the match officials but caught on video,” read a statement on the FA’s website.

“The Chelsea forward was involved in an incident with Arsenal’s Laurent Koscielny in the 43rd minute of the game.”

Costa has until 6pm on Tuesday to reply to his charge while Gabriel, Arsenal and Chelsea have until 6pm on Thursday.

The statement also added that Gabriel had been charged with improper conduct while both clubs will have to answer a charge of failing to control their players.
