Goalkeeper Fatau Dauda remains confident Ashanti Gold could still successfully defend the Ghana Premier League title, ahead of their trip to Cape Coast to lock horns with Ebusua Dwarfs on Sunday.
The reigning champions have endured a dismal start to the season and currently sit 10th on the standing with just 10 points from nine games.
Bashir Hayford’s men now trail leaders Wa All Stars by 10 points following their 2-1 home defeat to Hearts of Oak last weekend.
However, Dauda is refusing to throw in the towel, believing his side will bounce back next matchday and begin their title defence properly.
“The season hasn’t started on a good note but it’s not too late to make changes,” Dauda told Goal.
“There were some players who left after winning the title last campaign and, although new faces have joined, the team is yet to find its rhythm.
“These things do happen occasionally in many clubs but how to handle it is what makes one a winner or loser. We will successfully defend the title and the resurgence starts from our next game [against Ebusua Dwarfs],” he added.
