Ibrahim Saanie Daara, communication director of Ghana FA, insists that the 2015-16 season of the premier league will be very exciting despite months of delay caused by legal issues.
The league was previously scheduled to kick off on December 20 but it was halted by misunderstanding between Techiman City and Wa African United as well as Tema Youth FC and Dreams FC.
However, February 20 has been announced as the new date to kick off the competition.
“Everything is on course for us to now start the league on February 20 and the fixtures have been released for all to see,” Daara told Boss FM.
“The clubs have done well during the pre-season especially with regards to player transfers but it is unfortunate that Kotoko’s young striker Dauda Mohammed got injured in their friendly against Bechem United.
“However, in Accra, Hearts’ new signing Samudeen [Ibrahim] did well in the international friendly against Nigerian side Ifenyah Ubah.
“Ashantigold have also bolstered their squad with quality and big names but Aduana are the most surprised team, especially to me. This is because they’ve purchased players one would’ve thought could sign for either Kotoko or Hearts.
“The competition will be very exciting in this year’s league. Medeama, Dwarfs and all the other teams have augmented their squad so I expect a very competitive season,’’ he concluded.
The league is expected to end on August 28 and Sports5050‘s sources have revealed that the second transfer window will be opened between May 2 – June 1.
