Fresh off the back of a record-breaking four-goal haul againstMalmo on Tuesday, Cristiano Ronaldo came across a very brave journalist in the mixed zone.
The Real Madrid forward was asked about the “Penaldo” nickname—coined by his critics who believe too many of the Portuguese’s goals come from the spot—which has bugged him throughout his career.
“You have to look at the statistics,” he responded, per Ben Hayward of Goal.com (video not in English). “How many goals have I scored for Real Madrid? And they are not all penalties.”
Ronaldo, who became the first player to score 11 goals in the Champions League group stage and earlier this season overtook Raul as Los Blancos‘ all-time leading scorer, also dismissed rumours that he is on his way out of the Bernabeu and spoke of his Real Madrid future.
“I will score as many as I can,” he told reporters. “600, 700—as many as I can. They will all be there for people to see.”
