Cristiano Ronaldo has unleashed his attack on Xavi Hernandez when the latter recently made comments claiming Lionel Messi is superior.

Xavi in an interview last week admitted that Ronaldo is an extraordinary player, however he is no match to Lionel Messi as he believes the Argentine is on another level.

Ronaldo returning from injury for the first time since Euro 2016 final did not take those comments lightly and fired back at Barcelona legend.

“I’m the most searched player on the internet,” Ronaldo said. “Anyone who wants free publicity or media attention talks about me.

“I couldn’t care less about what Xavi says about me, he plays in Qatar or I don’t even know where.

“He’s won every collective trophy, including a World Cup and the European Championship, but he’s never won a Ballon D’Or.”

That is actually a fact, that Xavi has never won a Ballon D’Or, while Ronaldo has won three times. But was that personal response actually needed, when everybody body knows that Xavi will be bias when it comes to choosing between Messi and Ronaldo. Xavi enjoyed a successful spell together with Messi at Barcelona and the two were very good friends.

Choosing to boast about his individual accomplishments, Ronaldo then considered his continuing battle with Xavi’s Blaugrana contemporary, Messi.

“It’s a privilege for me to have won the Ballon d’Or three times with Messi contending for the award,” the Portugal captain concluded.

Ronaldo scored from an assist from Gareth Bale as Madrid went on to beat Osasuna 5-2 on Saturday afternoon and the Portugal star was pleased to have made his comeback after two months on the sidelines due to a knee injury.
