A move for Mario Balotelli could well be on the cards for Chievo this summer, with club President Luca Campedelli refusing to rule it out entirely.
The Liverpool forward has been told he is free to leave Anfield this summer as he does not feature in coach Jurgen Klopp’s plans for the campaign ahead.
After a potential move to Besiktas fell through, ‘Super Mario’ was linked with a move to Ajax before Serie A interest from the Flying Donkeys surfaced and the man in charge at the Stadio Marcantonio Bentegodi admitted he would like to sign the striker, difficult as it may be.
“Dreaming doesn’t cost anything,” smiled Campedelli when quizzed about the speculation. “At the moment, it does remain a dream because we know that it would be very difficult to pull off such a move.
“We must take into account the obvious difficulties in economic terms but it is something we are looking at. However, when you are coming up against the big clubs, then Chievo certainly can’t compete at that level.”
Balotelli has also been linked with both Serie A new boys Crotone and Sampdoria in his homeland this summer.
