Chelsea have confirmed a hip injury as the reason behind Eden Hazard’s absence from Saturday’s FA Cup quarter final tie against Everton.
Guus Hiddink denied the former Lille star was an injury doubt in his pre-match press conference on Thursday despite the 25-year-old having been forced off during Wednesday’s Champions League defeat against PSG.
The Belgian winger was replaced by Oscar after 77 minutes in the European tie at Stamford Bridge, which saw the Blues exit the competition in the round of 16 stage.
A short statement via Chelsea’s official Twitter account read: “Eden Hazard is missing today because of a small issue with a tendon in his hip area.”
Hazard has failed to find his form during the current campaign, having failed to score in any of his 21 Premier League appearances all season.
