The quest for ‘experience’ in modern day job search in inevitable. Employers need proof of achievement in similar role even consider your application.
Well, this Liverpool fan had that in abundance when he applied for the managerial position at the Anfield club after Brendan Rodgers was sacked … or so he thought.
Success in managing Porthmouth from Second Division to win an astonishing Premier League and Champions League double was a great deal of experience in football management.
Just that, there was only one problem here … he managed the club on the FIFA 15 computer game, not in real life.
The Anfield club however did not overlook the application of Adam Kneale. Chief Executive Officer Ian Ayre took time to reply Mr. Kneale telling him why he could not be hired at this time.
The reply read:
‘Dear Mr Kneale,
Thank you for your recent enquiry in relation to the current vacant position as First Team Manager at Liverpool Football Club.
Unfortunately, we are unable to process your interest at this time as we are looking for someone with more experience in the professional game
In relation to the experience that you have provided; taking Portsmouth Football Club from the 2nd Division and going on to winning the Premier League and Champions League in four seasons on FIFA 15, it is not the required standard of experience that we are looking for at this time.
However, we thank you for your interest and we look forward to hearing from you in the future.
Adam Kneale posted on social media after receiving the reply: “Oh well, worth a try”
The English Premier League club have appointed German Jurgen Klopp as their new manager after sacking Brendan Rodgers.
