T. P. Mazembe coach Patrice Carteron has revealed he is ready to sign more Ghanaian players after five Ghanaian-imports helped his side to win the 2015 Caf Champions League.
The 45-year-old led a depleted Mazembe side to defeat Ghana’s Dream Team 3-1 on Sunday to win the 2015 Mo Ibrahim Governance Cup at the Accra Sports Stadium.
“Ghana has some great talent. I have Solomon Asante, Daniel Nii Adjei, Richard Kissi, Yaw Frimpong and Gladson Awako but I’m still ready to bring in more Ghanaian players,” Carteron told reporters.
“We already have someone here in Ghana who is monitoring players for us, so I’m ready to look at any player he recommends,” he added.
Mazembe are reportedly discussing a move for Berekum Chelsea striker Kofi Owusu, who scored 19 goals to win Ghana Premier League top scorer award last season.
Carteron joined Mazembe in 2013 after only a year with Mali, guiding the Congolese giants to clinch their fifth Caf Champions League title, a fortnight ago after defeating USM Alger 4-1 on aggregate.
